In honor of Election Day, Garden Members and a Guest are invited to an engaging lecture on how the founders’ relationship with the natural world shaped their political philosophies and influenced the nation’s development.
Join Lew Feldman, Garden Director, for a fascinating exploration of the role plants, gardens, and agriculture played in the American Revolution and the lives of the nation’s Founding Fathers, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and James Madison.
We will discuss topics including why gardening was so important to the Founding Fathers, how agriculture helped shape the structure and ideals of the United States, and more.
This event is FREE, but reservations are mandatory to help us manage staffing, parking, and other logistics.
