Summer is a lovely time to explore botanical art with the many lovely flowers that surround us. Catherine Watters will guide you through the steps of observing, drawing and painting your flowers to capture their form, rich colors and texture.
All levels are welcome and students may use watercolor or colored pencils.
You have the option to rent materials with a $25 fee payable in cash to the instructor on the day of the class by selecting "Rent Materials" with your registration.
Cancellation Policy: Notification two weeks prior to program receives full refund. If you find you cannot attend less than 2 weeks prior to event, you may transfer your registration to someone else by having them use your name at check-in. In the event that the Garden has to cancel a program you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another program.

WHAT TO BRING
A desk lamp with a natural daylight bulb
Hot-pressed watercolor paper. Single sheet, cut into 4 pieces (I prefer Arches 140lb). You can also use Arches Hot-pressed watercolor block, 9" by 12".
Tester strips of the same watercolor paper as above (2" by 5")
One 9-inch by 12-inch sheet of drawing paper: Strathmore Bristol Vellum 300 series
One 9-inch by 12-inch sheet of Tracing paper – Canson Vidalon Vellum
Graphite Pencils - H and 2H
One Blending Stump
Divider – measuring tool with 2 points (without turning wheel)
Two Erasers: Tombo Mono Zero (round) and a kneaded eraser
FOR WATERCOLOR:
Palette – (I use a ceramic palette with 6 wells, plastic is fine too.)
Watercolor brushes – (I use Winsor & Newton, Series 7, Sable brushes, size 1 & 3)
Additional Brush - Princeton Dakota 6300B #2 Bright

Permanent Alizarin Crimson (Winsor and Newton)
Permanent Rose (Winsor and Newton)
Permanent Magenta (Winsor and Newton)

If you prefer to use Colored Pencils, I recommend Faber-Castell Polychromos or Sanford Prismacolor
