Summer Botanical Journaling with Catherine Watters

Create a Botanical Journal to document the plants and treasures found in a notable garden or during a memorable trip.
Catherine will share her journal and demonstrate how she creates it. Our day will start with a walk in the Garden to take reference photos. There will be a collection of small botanical subjects in the classroom for you to choose from.

Please Note: The Garden is closed on Tuesdays,  we will have limited access to the collection during this class.

Botanical Journaling Supplies List

• Watercolor Journal/Notebook - (I use a 5” x 8” vertical journal/notebook by Moleskine Art collection. There are many other brands of watercolor journals in vertical, horizontal and accordion formats)
• Desk lamp
• 2 H pencil
• Mono Tombo eraser
• Micron Pen - 005 Black or Sepia (I prefer Sepia)

Watercolors –(Bring your favorite ones), I will use:

 Permanent Rose (Winsor & Newton)

 Permanent Alizarin Crimson (Winsor & Newton)

 Permanent Magenta (Winsor & Newton)

 Transparent Yellow (Winsor & Newton)

 Burnt Umber (Winsor & Newton)

 Burnt Sienna (Winsor & Newton)

 Sap Green (M Graham)

 Ultramarine Violet (Schmincke ) OR (Winsor & Newton)

OR

Colored pencils by Faber-Castell (or Prismacolor)

 Pink Madder Lake

 Alizarin Crimson

 Middle Purple Pink

 Purple Violet

 Cadmium Yellow

 Burnt Ochre

 Burnt Sienna

 Permanent Green Olive

Cancellation Policy:  Please note the last day for a refund request for this class is Wednesday, July 31. Notification two weeks prior to program receives full refund. If you find you cannot attend less than 2 weeks prior to event, you may transfer your registration to someone else by having them use your name at check-in. In the event that the Garden has to cancel a program you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another program.
