Plant Collecting Across the Globe with Plantsman Dan Hinkley

Saturday March 28

Other dates...

10:00 AM  –  11:00 AM

The Garden is thrilled to host plantsman extraordinaire Daniel Hinkley for a colorful globe-trotting botanical adventure. For forty years, Dan has been an advocate for the diversity of plant life as a traveler, lecturer, nurseryman, designer, and naturalist. He has authored four books, including The Explorer’s Garden: Rare and Unusual Perennials. His spectacular private garden and nursery in Washington state, Windcliff, has been described as "a lifetime of gardening lessons [distilled] into a paradise."

For this talk, Dan will share plant highlights focused on Asia, South America, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, all easily grown in our local climate. Over 200 of the Botanical Garden's own accessioned plants are attributed to his collecting endeavors, and we invite you to explore the Garden after the talk.
