Sarah MacLean is a graduate student at UC Berkeley, where her research focuses on how California birds have been impacted by climate and land-use change over the past century. She began birdwatching in high school, and since then has embarked on a career of bird research and education that has taken her to walk beneath thousands of gull wings in an island nesting colony, to track endangered ducks on the north slope of Alaska, and to spectate falcon races in the Middle East. She has shared her passion for bird biology and identification with a wide audience and is excited to explore the diversity of bird life at the Garden with visitors.
