In this 4 day (August 28-31) intensive of half day sessions, you will learn you will learn the fundamentals of sustainable natural dyeing with the inimitable visiting dyer Michel Garcia from France. Michel's work over the past few decades has focused on reviving traditional techniques to enhance modern creativity and to empower dyers with a phytochemistry background
Topics covered will be fiber preparation, plant mordants, plant selection, using less dye for more effect, surface design, and various applications with natural dye. Being situated within the UC Botanical Garden's diverse collection of plants around the world will be the perfect setting to take your dye practice to the next level.
All program fees include admission to the Garden (a $12value per adult).
