Contemplating Loss: Photography Workshop

This event is no longer on sale.

Monday September 17

1:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

Where better to bring our grief than the garden? In this contemplative photography workshop, we will observe Nature’s teachings on letting go, and we will use the camera as a trusted guide who can navigate us safely through the rugged terrain of grief.

Any and all equipment are invited, including DSLRs, mobile phones, point-and-shoot, polaroid, and pinhole cameras. We will emphasize the process of art making and the cultivation of awe over technical considerations. Open to beginning and experienced students.

_______

A photographer, naturalist, and educator living in Oakland, California, Becky Jaffe teaches Art of Seeing courses for advanced fine art photographers. Using in-camera techniques that stretch the photographic medium to create painterly effects, she fuses an artist’s sensibility with a biologist’s curiosity in order to communicate reverence for the natural world.
